Tulum – Mexico

Tulum – Mexico

One of the places that we visited while at Mexico was Tulum. There are many Mayan sites near Cancun. We picked Tulum to visit since it is a Mayan site near the Ocean. Most other sites are in the middle of the jungles.

Our Tulum tour included pickup from the hotel, visiting a cenote , a tour of Tulum with an Archaeologist guide, and visiting Playa Del Carmen.

Tulum is well known site of a Mayan walled city. It is protected by walls on three sides and the ocean on the fourth site. It is considered to be one of the last cities build by the Mayans.

If you do visit Tulum, make sure to take your swim gear . It is a stunning area for a swim.

We did a combination tour. Playa Del Carmen was a good place for shopping and to relax. The cenote with the Tulum tour was pretty. If I had to do this again, I would just do the Tulum tour and do a separate cenote tour. I believe you get to see much more beautiful cenotes when the tour is focused on the cenotes alone. Playa Del Carmen was an interesting small city, but not something I would visit if I was shot on time.

  1. Thanks for the information. I found you trying to search things to do.
I’ll be visiting Playa del Carmen in October and just looking for things to do. For now its the CHICHEN ITZA ruins tour. Guess I need to add Tulum as well. Tulum appears to be closer to Playa del Carmen BUT Chichen Itza is considered one of the 7 wonders of the world but It’s closer to 3 hours away from playa del carmen. Decisions.
