The Good Places
This was our first dinner in Barcelona! I picked this place and made reservations here before leaving for Barcelona based on the research I had done! It did not disappoint! The tapas were incredible and everything was rich and tasty! We had ordered too much food! We had the green peppers, code fish , patatas bravas, bread with tomato paste and wine ! Would definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant to everyone !
On our second day – we stumbled across this place. It is right beside the Picasso Museum. We had the chicken paella , Catalan creme brulee and wine. I really loved the flavours of the chicken paella – it was probably the best paella I have had in all of Spain ! The Catalan crème brulee was not sweet enough for my taste – however it was still decent ! Would definitely go back for paella dishes ! The service can be slow – didn’t mind too much since we were on vacation !
We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident. We had plans to have dinner at Bo De B – however they ran out of food. We had pizza, Sangria and potato tapas. The food was excellent ! We were stuffed and happy ! Great find ! The waiters could use improvement in the manner they offer service ! Regardless of the service will definitely go back for the food !
This was another place that we had looked up and picked prior to our trip. Again it did not disappoint! This restaurant is near Casa Mila and Casa Batllo (Gaudi’s buildings). The wait was long (20 minutes without reservation after 12 am!). The hostess had attitude! There were chairs out on the patio – I asked if we could sit there while we waited and she said no ( we were really tired after a long day of walking) . I was in a mellow state – so let it pass J . Should go for training or learn basic manners! The food made up for it. We had various Tapas and all was freshly made! Really enjoyed the food ! Recommend the palace if you can put up with rudeness for good food !
The Okay Places
This was the first place we had Tapas in Barcelona. We went around 1 pm and it was not very crowded. They had a variety and everything was fresh. The food was just okay, not something that left me with a wow. The prices and service was reasonable. It’s an okay place if you want decent food but if you want a wow experience keep looking!
Had Gelato here. It was decent Gelato – didn’t blow my mind in that I would go back just for this when at Rambla.
We had lunch here after our visit to the La Sagrada Familia . The food was good but not something I would go back for. We had the Spanish omelet and chicken parmigiana. The service was good and it is very near to the La Sagrada Familia.
This is a world famous market in Barcelona . It is a good place to visit and for fruit juice. There are many stalls selling fruit juice. They are all not the same! Buy from the one near the entrance – it cost 2 Euro. That was the best one ! We tried many different items from the various stalls. None of the items were great ! I didn’t like some at all and some were just okay. Still worth a visit .
The Places to Avoid
Crepe from Food stands
Had a late night snack of crepe from a food stand near the beach at the end of the Rambla. I did not like it much. If you are craving for crepe – look up and a find a café or restaurant or dessert place for it – don’t get it off the food stands that are selling crepe.
This is a Café off Rambla. We had spent a lot of time walking and wanted some quick nourishments. Didn’t bother to check the review. I sure regret it . We just had coffee and some snacks. I am a big Churos fan and wanted to try the Churos and chocolate dip (supposedly famous in Barcelona ) . This café ruined Churos for me ! The Churos tasted horrible and just everything else we had left me disappointed! Stay away from this place !
This is a restaurant right off Boqueria and has been in existence since 1899 ! I don’t know why it is still around! The food was horrible . I was trying not to eat at Rambla – but we were really hungry. I regret it. Avoid this place!
Overall really enjoyed the food in Barcelona !! Doing research ahead of time really helped . There are many not so great places – so make sure to do some research ahead of time ! Enjoy !
