Paris, France – A City that I Love!

Paris, France – A City that I Love!

A friend recently asked for recommendations of places to see in Paris, France. Usually I pass on my blog postings on specific cities when people ask me for travel suggestions. At the time I visited Paris, I wasn’t blogging about my travels. Paris was a place I loved too much, and as such I decided to write about it before my memory became foggy! I stayed for 10 days in Paris! I was there from Dec 13th 2014 to Dec…

Wednesday – June 16, 2016 – Thoughts on the Market

Stephen Poloz sees signs of ‘real progress’ in Canada’s economy .  – Stephen Poloz – Bank of Canada Governor is predicting Oil prices may stagnate around $50 . I own ENB and have made a decent gain on it to date. This makes me wonder if I should maybe sell. I will hold till I find another opportunity and then I will sell. US Fed keeps Rates Steady –  Initially they had predicted last year that they will be raising…

LinkedIn Arbitrage Opportunity?

LinkedIn Arbitrage Opportunity?

I noticed a strange behavior with regard to LinkedIn stock today. The stock is trading between $191 and $192. This price is a bit strange because Microsoft’s purchase price for LNKD is $196 per share. If markets behaved efficiently the current stock price should be at minimum $196. I can only find two reasons for the discounted current price. First reason, Microsoft is still waiting for regulators to approve the purchase. I can’t see a reason why regulators will block this…

If you are really interested in trading – you have to be willing to put in the time to understand the basics of how the markets work and what type of strategies are out there.  Otherwise, what you are doing is the same thing as what you would do…

What stock(s) to pick for Trading for the week of 6/12/2016 ?

Want to know if the market would be up or down this week? Found an  article – This article talked about stock index futures being lower and one possible reason being the 50 person shooting that happened in Florida. Futures of the stock index are usually a good indication of where the market will open. If you need further details on what a future is you can find it on Investopedia. Even though this article is for the US indexes…

Chichen Itza – One of the new Seven Wonders of the World

One of the tours we did in Mexico was a trip to Chichen Itza. We knew we wanted to visit Mayan Ruins and one of the most famous ones near Cancun was Chichen Itza.  It is the 2nd most visited archaeological site in Mexico and is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World! We booked a tour which included pickup from our hotel, lunch, swim in a cenote, and a guided tour of Chichen Itza. The drive to…

Short Term Trading

Short Term Trading

Earlier this year I wrote an article on investment ideas for the year: http://www.financegirltoronto.com/2016/02/my-canadian-investing-ideas-for-the-year-2016/ I picked some stocks to hold for an investment period of a year. I have been formally trained to approach investing as long term activity. The rational person in me understands that investing is for the long term. My picks are doing well four months into the investment period: http://www.financegirltoronto.com/2016/06/review-of-stocks-performance-enbridge-enb-intact-financial-corp-ifc/?frame-nonce=e5b00c89ef There is another part of my brain that wants to invest for a short period.  The…

Scuba Diving – Cancun Underwater Museum

Scuba Diving – Cancun Underwater Museum

One of the main reasons for picking Cancun in Mexico was to see the Cancun underwater museum. My friend really wanted to do this! We looked at both snorkeling and scuba diving at this site and decided on scuba diving. We were both excited to try scuba diving for the very first time. I was a bit nervous. My nervousness had merit. By nature I am a bit of a klutz so I was worried I might mess up following…
