Top tips for booking the Train To Machu Picchu :

1. Book early . As you get near your travel date the slots can get sold out ! The price also goes up considerably.

2. Leave from Ollantaytambo- If you plan to do Scared Valley Tour, plan your tour so it ends in Ollantaytambo and you catch a train from there !

3. Book at least one of the train rides during Day Time – The train ride is beautifully scenic .

4. Be patient and plan for activities on the train – The train ride can be long . The trains don’t keep to the advertised duration. Our three and a half train ride took over five hours !!

5. Bring snacks – They do serve snacks for you on the train but it’s like airplane food . You are better off bringing your own snacks .

6. Don’t pay significantly extra for the dome trains – There are nothing much to see from the domes on the ceiling. Everything you need to see can be seen through the window!
