We stayed in Madurai for 3 days – mainly to visit the temples in Madurai. I grew up watching Tamil movies and Madurai was a city that served as a location for a few .

Hotel In Madurai

We stayed at the Courtyard By Marriott Madurai. It is a very decent hotel and a good option in Madurai . The buffet at the hotel was also good for food .

Stop Over

We also used Madurai as a stopover between Thanjavur and Rameswaram. Again we stayed at Courtyard Madurai.

Shopping

Pothys – I wanted to do some additional shopping in Madurai. We went to Pothys . Definitely a one stop shopping place. I would recommend Kanchipuram for saree shopping if you can make it there . If not Pothys is a good option. I found the saree selection to be better at Chennai Pothys though, so go to the Chennai Pothys if you are visiting both .

We mainly ate at our hotel in Madurai ( Courtyard) . It was buffet format and they always had variety.

We tried Domino’s (pizza ) once and it was okay . Not something I would recommend.

We had a good time in Madurai. Our trip was centred around temples and we enjoyed our time .
