We made the reservation ahead of time and the rental counter is connected to the airport terminal. Just follow the signs .

We were able to rent using our Canadian drivers license and credit card . No issues at all .

Toll

Portugal has many toll roads . It’s very affordable. Make sure to get a transponder with your rental car .

Type of car

Portugal has large well maintained road . You ll only hit narrow roads when you drive into a historic part in any of the towns . However you can always park outside the historical centres . This is what we did with most of the cities we visited. So pick the car based on your need .
