New York Food Recommendations – As of August 2018

Near Time Square 
 
Fast Eats : 
 

1. Patzeria Perfect Pizza (231 W 46th St, New York City) – This is a small takeout place but the Pizza is really good. I have tried many different Pizza places on my trips, and
this one I would say is my favorite.  Another one that is a chain and the kids might like is Joe’s Pizza. http://www.joespizzanyc.com/ . They  have a  few locations.

2.  Los Tacos is very well known and has really good Tacos. There is a location near Time Square and another in Chelsea Market.

3. The Halal Guys ( cash only ) –  They also have a few locations ( food carts ) . You can find one close to you or there is one near time square. 

 

4. Shake Shack  – This is probably my favorite place to eat in New York. The burgers are amazing. If the kids like burgers this would be a hit. There are many locations all throughout New York including near Time Square.

 

Restaurants : 

1. Tony’s Di Napoli – https://www.tonysnyc.com/ . This is a really good Italian place about 20 minute walk from Time square and right near Bryant Park.Really  good desserts. Make reservation ahead of time.

2. Obao – Vietnamese/Tai Restaurant . About 15 minutes from Time Square. Good for when you need something with spice/flavor.

 

Outside of Time Square ( best to make reservations for all of the below )  :

1. Morimoto – https://morimotonyc.com/ . Really good Sushi place. People tend to dress up for this place for dinner.

 

2. ABC Kitchen – Really good baked chicken. Vegan friendly.

 

3. Momofuku Ssam Bar –  Really flavorful food. The chef is famous.

 

4. Buddakan – Near Chelsea Market . Really good dumplings. Beautiful decor.  Near the NY Google office.

 

5. Balthazar – One of the top ranked places in New York . Well made food.

 

6. Fish Market – If you are in the financial district – really good Chinese place.

 

7. Uncle Boons – Really good Thai place. Crab fried rice is really good. Near Financial district

 

8. Spicy Village – A small Chinese place that is well known for its chicken curry.  Near Financial district

 

9. Mission Chinese Food – Really famous Chinese place. Good Food.  Last time we saw a 90s movie star here. It has another location in SF.

 

10. Peter Luger Steakhouse – This is in Brooklyn ( you can take an uber ) and is a really famous steakhouse. https://peterluger.com/

 

11. Murray’s Cheese Bar – Really good Mac and Cheese and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches.

Good Brunch Places : 

1. The Smith Midtown – Need to go early for brunch. Fresh and tasty food dishes.

 

2. Clinton Street Baking Company – Amazing pancakes. Quite famous. Need to go early or it is a long wait for seating.

 

3. Friedman’s – Good Mac and Cheese and chicken and waffles.

 

Dessert Places :
 

1.Sprinkles Cup Cakes – You have to get the kids cupcakes from Sprinkles . They are a chain and has multiple locations. Amazing cup cakes. http://sprinkles.com/

 

2. Milk Bar – This is a dessert place that is run by this Chef made famous from the TV show Chef’s Table. She sells something called crack pie – it is really good. They also have many locations. If you get a chance – give this a try.
