Best Restaurant In Siena – La Taverna Di San Giuseppe
La Taverna Di San Giuseppe was recommended to my husband by one of his foodie friends . We had a late dinner there on our first night in Siena .
Restaurant is located in the historical district of Siena . We were staying outside of the historic district so drove in with our car . We couldn’t find close enough parking so we acutely drove back and got an Uber 😂! The Uber Cost wasn’t too bad !
We were early for our reserved time so we explored Siena a bit. The town is not too big and you can tell not much has changed in the town in centuries . Beautiful town squares and old buildings .
The restaurant is formal so do dress up and highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time . The wait staff is charming and attentive.
Once we were seated we were served a pallet cleanser . Even that was delicious! We ordered a bottled of Chianti Classico and vegetable soup to start and we’re given freshly baked bread ! The bread and soup were exquisite. At that point we knew we were in for a treat .
For main we had chicken , truffle pasta , steak and a bruschetta like dish . Everything we tried tasted incredible. Both us agreed that this was probably one of the best restaurants we had dined in Italy . We would go back to Siena just to eat here .
We had tiramisu and dessert wine for desert . Again incredibly well made food . The restaurant is not cheap but definitely worth the price !
The restaurant is located in a building that has been around for a long time . There is even a wine and cheese cave dating back to centuries ago . You have the option of visiting the wine cave . We went down to see it . Just a surreal experience standing in a place that has existed for hundreds of years . Definitely recommend La Taverna Di San Giuseppe as the top restaurant in Siena, Tuscany and even Italy ! Each dish is incredibly well made . We would definitely being visiting again in the future .
