Toronto Smorgasburg Review

Toronto Smorgasburg Review

We had a chance to visit the Toronto Smorgasburg Food Festival On Aug 27 th . The festival is taking place in Toronto downtown . We parked our car near St. Lawrence Market . Parking was $5 on a Saturday. The walk to the festival was not too long .

Entrance

The entrance to the festival is free . We were there around 12.30 pm on a Saturday and it wasn’t overly crowded . There were a descent number of people but still enough space for you to move around and eat .

Favourite Vendors And Dishes

There was a good lineup of vendors available and good variety in selection . Below are some of our favourites from the items we tried .

Iced Singaporean Kopi From Kiss My Pans

This was our first booth stop . My husband was excited to try the dishes from here but the only one we really liked was the Iced Kopi . It could be because their dishes were pre made . Highly recommend the Iced Kopi . Good combination of caffeine and a way to cool down .

Empanadas From Pampay Patagonia

Our second stop was for Empanadas . We got a chicken and a beef Empanada. We also got the spicy chimichurri sauce . They give you the chimichurri sauce and a spicy sauce in separate containers. You mix depending on your heat preference. Well thought out idea . The empanadas were delicious! We devoured them . Definitely one of our top favourite both . For 8 $ for two large empanadas it was also good value for money .

Thai Iced Tea From Tokyo Angel

This was our fourth stop . We mainly went here for the Thai iced tea and it did not disappoint. It comes in a bag and was delicious. Great way to keep cool on a hot day .

Ruchi Take Out & Catering

We had 1 set of sweet hoppers from Ruchi and it was delicious. It was a great value at $5 for two .

Not So Favourite Vendors and Food Items

Some of the items we tried we weren’t a big fan of . Sometimes the not so favourite and favourite items were from the same vendor!

Kiss My Pan – Fish Dish & Durian Sweet

We weren’t a big fan of the fish and durian sweet from Kiss My Pan . I think the fish might be better at their restaurant if eaten warm .

Baan – Grilled Jumbo Shrimp

$18 for 4 grilled jumbo shrimp. They weren’t anything special and just seemed overpriced for what you were getting .

Tokyo Angel – Takoyaki ( Octopus Balls )

My husband tried this dish and just wasn’t a fan .

Meena’s Kitchen – Chaat

We tried the chaat from Meenas . It was fresh but nothing special .

Overall

We really enjoyed the food options that was available and left stuffed and satisfied! Some items were expensive but we didn’t mind supporting the vendors who made the effort to come out ! Do drop by and enjoy the variety.
