Algarve Road Trip/Scenic Drive – From Lagos To Bordeira

One of the best parts of visiting the Algarve is road trips/scenic drives ! There are so many beautiful beaches, pretty towns and sites to discover along the coast .

We did multiple road trips – our first one was from Lagos going west to Sagres .

Sagres

Scenic Drive From Lagos – First Stop : Forte Do Beliche . Also known as Lighthouse Of Cabo De Sao Vicente

We had a leisurely breakfast in the town of Lagos and than we headed out on our road trip . First stop was the Lighthouse Of Cabo De Sao Vicente .

This light house is the South Western point of Europe . It has been around since the 1500s. Maintained well and interesting to visit .This Website had a really deep dive into its history. The best photos of it are taken from the sea – which we didn’t have a chance to do .

Worth visiting for two reasons :

1. To say you have visited the South West Point of Europe .

2. There is a beautiful beach near by . We accidentally discovered on our way back from the lighthouse. We stopped at what we thought was a view point and it turned out to be a stunning Algarve beach ! That beach is definitely worth a visit !

Scenic Drive From Lagos – Second Stop : Praia Do Beliche

This beach we discovered when we pulled over to see what we thought was a view point . There were many steps that led down to a Cove with soft sand , rock formations behind us and clear waters .

It was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen . We spend a few hours hanging around and walking the entire stretch of the beach . Couldn’t swim as the water in October was too cold for us .

This was my favourite beach in Algarve & Portugal! A core memory for me with my husband.

Scenic Drive From Lagos – Third Stop : Praia da Bordeira

Our next stop was another beach in the town of Bordeira called Praia da Bordeira .

Bordeira is a town known for ruggedness and its large waves that attracts surfers .

We parked in a sandy parking lot and walked to the beach . It was massive – miles and miles of sand . Again we didn’t swim – cold in October.

Not too far from the beach was a board walk along a trail . We did that walk as well – catching a bit of the sunset .

Than we came back to the parking lot and took our car a bit further to see how far the road went . We noticed the sun was setting so pulled over and caught the final sun setting .

Overall a beautiful day driving along the coast !

By the time we left – it was dark . We drove back to Lagos in the dark . Roads are well maintained that it was a comfortable drive back .

Highly recommend road trips in the Algarve !
