Rome Day Two

Rome Day Two

I have written detailed posts about various places we have visited in Rome . You can find a link for it here .

While writing about Italy I have decided I am also going to do a chronological post by day linking the various posts together . Main purpose of this is for me to look back and remember what I did on which day !

Breakfast

We had an early start on day 2 . We left around 7 ish to walk to the Colosseum. We had an 8 am tour .

On our way we got coffee at Sant’eustachio caffe . This was by accident. We saw this cafe on our route . This turned out to be one of the best cafes in Rome and we visited here many times for our coffee fix !

Colosseum

We managed to find our tour group and visit the Colosseum with a tour guide . It was an awesome experience. We paid a bit extra to go through the gladiator entrance , to visit the arena ( where gladiators fought ) and for the live tour guide . This was worth it for us and it helped us avoid lines . You can find a detailed post on the visit to Colosseum here .

Roman Forum

Our tour included entrance to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill . Once we finished the Colosseum we visited the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill with the second guide . It was around 11.30 am to noon and we were dying in Rome’s August heat ! Nevertheless we marched on !

Roman Forum is incredible. Lots of history in one place . More details on this post .

We spend about three hours in Roman Forum. Wandering and hiking the back path to the top . By the end of it we were a bit exhausted from the heat and all the walking. We walked outside for about ten minutes and caught a taxi to our hotel .

Lunch

We had lunch at Cantieri. We mainly picked this place because it was close to our hotel . It was beautifully decorated. The food was good . Not a place I would crave but good enough to meet a lunch time meal requirement.

Dessert

After lunch, we got a gelato each and walked back to the hotel ! The Gelato place is called Gelateria La Romana and it is our favourite Gelato place in all of Rome !

Nap

Due to the heat and jet lag we were exhausted so we took a nap ! By the time we woke up a few hours had passed and it was dark outside . I was a bit bummed that we missed precious day light but glad we rested up .

Thai Massage

We decided to go for a massage to soothe our tired muscles . We came across Nora Thai Massage Center online and booked appointments.

When we got there I was pleasantly surprised with the facilities. It was well thought out and extremely clean . The massages were also effective. We loved our experience here . Would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a massage place !

Trevi Fountain

After our massages we hit up Trevi Fountain. It was close to the massage place and I had wanted to see it for the longest time ! More about Trevi Fountain on this post . The hype is real ! Probably the most romantic fountain I had the opportunity to visit !

Dinner

By this time we were starving and decide to have dinner near the Trevi Fountain. We looked up dinner options near Trevi and settled on That’s Amore . The place was decent. Not something I would go back for .

Spanish Steps

Once we were done dinner we walked to the Spanish Steps . We passed Trevi Fountain on the way . Spanish steps located in a historic area with lots of high end shops . More about it on this post .

Goodnight

Once we finished up at Spanish steps we headed back to the hotel and settled in for the night . It was a busy and exciting day in Rome !
