Pantheon Rome

One of my favourite ancient buildings in all of Rome is the Pantheon !

The design , architecture and history of this building fascinates me !

Some Interesting Facts About The Pantheon :

  • There is a bloody open hole ( dome ) in its roof . When it rains water gets into the building. The floors are slopped so as the water gets in it drains !
  • The building is almost 2000 years old ! A well built structure.
  • It’s dome is still the largest unreinforced dome in the world . Romans sure knew how to built .
  • It was built by the Romans as a temple and latter converted to a church. Like most of the surviving Roman buildings .
  • It holds the tombs of many famous peoples
  • Many buildings around the world are modelled after the Pantheon!

Logistics

  • There is no entrance fee to visit the Pantheon. It’s free .
  • Recommend to visit it even if you only have a day . You can cover it under 40 minutes.
  • Try to visit during the day and at night
  • It was not as crowded as other attractions
  • Plan your visit around Mass time . It is still an active church!
