Restaurants To Avoid In Rome
In the country of food I was Adamant about finding some incredible restaurants. I did quite a bit of research trying to make sure our dining experiences were authentic and delicious!
Not every place you eat at will be good ! On the contrary, most places especially near tourist attractions may not be good .
Even with all the research we ended up at places that I was dissatisfied at . Two times the reviews were good but I didn’t realize they were chains ! Goes to show you can’t trust reviews!
Disappointing Experiences
Came across Obica while researching for breakfast spots . We normally got a pastry and latte to go for breakfast . However we decided we ll try sit down breakfast one day ! Obica is a chain restaurant with locations in London, New York etc . They are known for their Mozzarella. The food was okay but not as good as some of the other places we visited . We left feeling like we should have just gone to our regular cafe .
We had lattes , breakfast sandwich with mozzarella and some pastries .
This place has a high number of stars and raving reviews. We came here after touring a museum and an estate . We were super hungry but was still not pleased with the food . We have had much better at other restaurants. The menus are laminated . It is a touristic place and food was mediocre at best . Probably my least favourite dining experience in all of Rome .
St.Ana was recommended to us by our hotel . It was our last night and we just wanted dinner . We were too tired to do research to find a place so made the mistake of asking our hotel !
The hotel has been around since the 60s and it is formal . We sat outside and had a few courses . The fried artichoke was excellent but that’s where it stopped . Neither one of us enjoyed our mains . Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes given it has such high ratings.
It was a miss for us !
Overall
We had some amazing dining experiences. We also had some that was disappointing. Even the disappointing places the food was decent. Just didn’t stack up to the incredible places we tried .
