Capri

Capri

I had wanted to visit the Island of Capri ever since I heard the song Rhythm Divine from Enrique Iglesias. There is a line in the song that goes ” From the coast of Ipanema
To the Island of Capri” .

Finally made it to Capri in 2019 ! Twenty years after the song released . Sometimes you just have to be patient with your dreams !

Capri also came up in a Novel I read . In that Novel the bad guy ( a women ) wears this specific perfume made only on the Island Of Capri . Forgot the name of the Novel , but I remember googling the name of the perfume throughout the years .

As you can see Capri kept popping up and became part of my bucket list .

When we were planning the Amalfi Coast portion of our trip I had to add Capri to it ! We debating about staying a day in Capri but than decided against it due to cost and wanting to keep on city as our home base ( Sorrento ) .

From Sorrento To Capri

We caught an early morning ferry to Capri from Sorrento . 7 am Ferry! As we approached the Island my excitement was high! We were initially planning to do the Blue Grotto first but since we were so early decided to take the bus to AnaCapri .

Transportation

There are multiple options for getting around the island .

  1. Bus – there are buses that connect all the major attractions. Cheapest option other than walking.
  2. Walking- The sites are too far apart and hilly to make this a reasonable option.
  3. Taxis – The Taxis are all convertibles ! Definitely an expensive option but worth it for at least one leg of your visit !
  4. Boat – you can take a boat to the Blue Grotto and some specific point but can’t be used for most other stops !

Top Things To Do In Capri

Will link to detailed posts and photos for each activity .

  1. Explore Anacapri – we spend a few hours exploring the historical sites , shops and restaurants.
  2. Climb Mount Solaro With Chair Lift – You can get on this chair lift from Anacapri . Views at the top are stunning!
  3. Visit Blue Grotto – This is a very much a touristy activity but it is wow ! Water so blue that I have never seen it anywhere else in the World !
  4. Purchase perfume at Carthusia – This perfume is only made in Capri and has a unique smell to it . I have wanted this perfume ever since I read about it !
  5. Celebrity Barber Armando– Right beside the perfume store is a barber who looked like he was from the past . He welcomed us and showed us photos with celebrities. Since my husband is forever getting haircuts he got one from Armando ! Cool experience.
  6. Explore Capri – Anacapri and Capri are two major parts of Capri . Capri is near the port and has stores Capri is known for , many restaurants and other sites !
  7. Eat Foods Local To Capri – we had breakfast, lunch and snacks in Capri and tried to eat dishes that originated on the Island . It was impressive how many famous dishes originated from here !
  8. Visit A Beach – Capri’s beaches are stunning. One thing to keep in mind, the bottoms of these beaches are rocky !
  9. Catch A Taxi – Most of the Capri taxis are convertibles . They are not cheap but the experience is definitely worth it !

For a small Island there is definitely many things to do on the Island . Hope to go back one day and spend longer time on the Island !
