MET Venice Review – Michelin Star Dining Experience In Venice

While we were in Venice we decided to visit a Michelin star restaurant . After research we found MET . This was walking distance from our hotel ( near St Mark square ) and had 1 Michelin star .

Decor

Met is located inside the Hotel Metropole. The building the hotel is housed in is almost 500 years old and with rich History . We didn’t know this when we booked our reservation.

Currently the hotel is decorated in traditional Venetian style . It’s filled with colour , chandeliers, art , velvety fabric and all kinds of decorative items throughout the hotel and restaurant. I prefer history and old world decorations so for me the hotel and restaurant’s decor was a bonus . I took breaks while we were eating to explore some of the common areas of the hotel !

If you don’t want to spend the money on a Michelin star restaurant to visit the hotel , there is a bar . Highly recommend to drop by the bar and explore the hotel !

Food

We ordered specific dishes at the Met . Skipped the tasting menu and wine pairing and ordered just a few glasses of wine at the recommendation of the sommelier.

The food was delicious. Our favourite was a foie gras dish . The desserts didn’t blow us away – had higher expectation for it given it was at a Michelin star restaurant.

Overall though we didn’t think the price was worth it for the food . At least for us .

Service

The service was impeccable. We were greeted well and take care of throughout the meal ! They even brought us an Anniversary surprise !

Price

The price was steep . It was a bit over 400 Euro for two people . This is the range for a Michelin star restaurant in Europe.

Conclusion

We were glad we had a chance to try out a Michelin star restaurant. Personally for us it was not worth it . We enjoyed other meals much more in normal restaurants in Italy .
