Summary :

1. If your resort is far from Male (capital ) you will need to take a sea plane to get to your resort .

2. Sea plane rides are expensive ( up to 500 USS one way ) !

3. Maldives consist of about 1200 islands stretched across the ocean. Ours was about 50 minute plane ride from Male .

4. Once you get off your international flight you have to wait for your time slot for the sea plane . Resorts will have a dedicated lounge area with food , shower etc while you wait . Our hotel JW Marriott definitely did !

5 . Sea planes can hold up to 16 people or so . Your plane may make other stops at other resorts along the way . Our plane made two stops before finally reaching our resort .

6. Your hotel/resort will arrange your seaplane and charge you . No getting around this since many resorts are on private islands .

7. The view from the sea plane is stunning. There is nothing quite like it . I did grumble about the cost but it was definitely a unique experience. See vide below .
