Maldive Beaches – The Perfect Beach Experience
We stayed at the JW Marriott Maldives Resort And Spa . This resort is located in the Shaviyani Atoll in the Maldives . A secluded and untouched Atoll .
You might be wondering what is an Atoll ?
From Wikipedia: “An atoll sometimes known as a coral atoll, is a ring-shaped coral reef, including a coral rim that encircles a lagoon partially or completely. There may be coral islands or cays on the rim. “
It starts out as a Volcano that has coral reef growing around it . Over millions of years the Volcano disappears underwater leaving the corals around it surrounding a shallow lagoon . Any pieces of land sticking out becomes islands in the Atoll .
The Islands Of Maldives are inside 26 such Atolls . It’s pretty cool . I had no idea this is how the Maldives were formed !
Best Beach Requirements
The Beach at the JW Marriott Maldives was the best one I have ever seen/experienced in all of my travels !
Here is why it is the best :
- Clear Turquoise Blue Water . Fully see through . I could see the fishes and the ground every day .

- Cleanest White Sand Beach . This was because the resort was on a small private island in one of the most secluded Atolls in the Maldives. Recommend staying at a resort that is on its on Island and in one of the further Atolls .
- Coastline dotted with palm trees and green vegetation. Since the island was small there was enough greenery and not many bugs ! Perfect combination.
- When we visited in February the resort was 40% occupied . Which meant we had the beach mostly to ourselves.
- Excellent service. We had an overwater bungalow. Anytime we wanted to swim at the main beach our butler setup the whole area for us . Lounge chairs , towels , umbrellas, drinks etc .
- Warm water with gentle waves
- Fishes right off the shore . You could see them just by standing on the shore !
I am pretty sure Maldives is going to be my top beach experiences. Live . Going to super hard for any other beach to top this experience.
